The Amboro National Park is located in the west of the department Santa Cruz, between the Yungas (cloud forest), the central valleys and the amazon basin. The park encompasses various ecosystems – rain-, cloud- and dry forest as well as a huge range of fauna and flora and a significant number of endemic habitats. Within the park you will be able to observe rare animal species. Futhermore, the park also has up to 600 different bird species. The climate is warm to mild, depending on the altitude zones, that range from 300-2.500 meter.

One of the attractions of the park is Mataracú , an area with stunnishing waterfalls, natural pools as well as tropical fauna and flora. More up north the landscape changes and you will observe huge Farnenwälder, an observation tower, canyons and pools. The area in the northern part of the park is called La Chonta. Another attraction is the green lagoon. The park also contains numerous wildlife habitats such as monkeys, various bird species, jaguar, tapirs. The south, near Samaipata, has even a few volcanoes. The park also has a few stunishing waterfalls, that reach 100 meters high .

The Amboro Nationa Park has more than one access and entrance point. The northern part is best accessed through the town of Buena Vista whereas for visiting the southern part Samaipata is a good starting point. Tours can be booked either from Santa Cruz or at the park entrances in Samaipata or Buena Vista. The park is well organized fro tourism. Within the park you will find Centres of information and interpretation, accommodation, restaurants as well as a variety of offerings to explore the park.
